The November 10th release date of Fallout 4 is quickly approaching, and fans are clamoring for the newest entry in the open world post-apocalyptic franchise. Today marked the release of an all new launch trailer, which seems to show off some things fans might not have expected. From Airships to racial tensions, this launch trailer seems to be full of information. Let’s dive in shall we?
First off Bethesda has confirmed something many fans have suspected since the game’s announcement; it seems that we will get to see firsthand the way life in the Fallout Universe was prior to the nuclear holocaust that caused the dystopian environment many fans are familiar with. Additionally it seems that Fallout 4 will have more of a cinematic quality to it, with Cutscenes and events that look more like a Telltale game than a Bethesda property in terms of cinematography.
The dystopian version of Boston seems to have racial tensions throughout it as well, as conflicts between humans and “Synths” (presumably synthetics, so possibly cyborg or android characters) are beginning to rise. This leads to another interesting tidbit, airships have shown up in the launch trailer, having a Bioshock Infinite-esque vibe to them that strangely enough feels right at home. Combine that with helicopters and other aerial vehicles (which the player can be seen shooting rockets toward) and Fallout 4 seems to be bringing the heat on land and in the air.
Another thing that seems promising is that the voice acting (in the launch trailer at least) seems top notch; whether there will be stiff moments or lazy acting from NPC’s like in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim hasn’t yet been determined, but the voice acting showcased thus far seems very promising and very well crafted. Super Mutants, Ghouls, and all the major Fallout races and staples seem to have returned, though the story itself seems to have somewhat of a soviet era, cold war undertone to it that is absolutely fascinating.
It was also incredibly refreshing to hear voiceovers from both the male and female voice actors for the main player character. Fallout 4 seems like a major “Game of the Year” contender, and with great voice acting and cinematography it’s going to be quite difficult to overtake Fallout 4 for the title. As they say however, War never changes…so only time will tell if the game of the year battle is won by Bethesda this year.
From secret societies, to social class struggles, it is likely that Fallout 4 will include a large amount of gameplay with memorable characters, battles, and all sorts of content. This is just the tip of the iceberg as far as the glory of the Launch trailer is concerned, so check it out below and see it in its full length; also look for Fallout 4 to release on Playstation 4, PC, and Xbox One on November 10th, 2015.
